Prof. Joseph Abuya is an Associate Professor,  Department of Radiology & Imaging,  School of Medicine,  Moi University.

He is also immediate past Chair of this Department.

Prof. Abuya is also a Consultant Radiologist at the Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital.  He is passionate in the welfare of colleagues especially through the Kenya Medical Association,  Eldoret Division

Dr. Gladys Mwango
Chief Coordinator

Dr. Gladys Mwango is a consultant radiologist and Senior Lecturer at the University of Nairobi, where she previously chaired the Department of Diagnostic Imaging and Radiation Medicine. With over 20 years’ experience in clinical radiology, research, and education, she has contributed significantly to cancer imaging, pediatric radiology, and ultrasound, while championing radiology training, mentorship, and health system strengthening in Kenya. She is the immediate past president of the Kenya Association of Radiologists and the current Chief Coordinator of PACORI.

Dr. Juliette Orege is a consultant radiologist with an interest in nuclear medicine, musculoskeletal imaging, oncologic imaging and global health. She is passionate about improving access to medical imaging in underserved areas using digital innovation.

Stacy is passionate about protection of people from the harmful effects of radiation. She is a practicing medical physicist and a radiation safety professional. Currently, she is the secretary of the Eastern Africa Association of Radiation Protection (EAARP).

Dr. J. Mavuti
Radiology Faculty at the Aga Khan University Hospital

Dr. J. Mavuti is a Consultant Radiologist with an interest in Head and Neck Imaging and Neuroradiology. She is on the Radiology Faculty at the Aga Khan University Hospital, Nairobi, and is passionate about advancing expertise at all levels of Head & Neck Imaging on the African Continent. She holds a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery degree (MBChB) from University of Nairobi, Kenya; Master of Medicine in Radiology from Aga Khan University; and completed her Fellowship training in Head & Neck Radiology at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham and Queen Victoria Hospital NHS Foundation Trust East Grinstead, both in the United Kingdom.

Caesar Barare
Committee member

Caesar Barare is a Principal Therapy Radiographer (Radiation Therapist) with over 30 years of experience at Kenyatta National Hospital. He has played a key role in advancing radiotherapy services in Kenya, including serving on the local facilitating team during the Stanford University collaboration at KNH. In addition to being an educator of radiography at the Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT) and previously Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC), he prides himself of being a Past Honorary Secretary and President of the Society of Radiography in Kenya (SORK), a committed professional leader who actively contributes through governance, policy development, and member support initiatives. Regionally, he has championed efforts toward establishing  Pan-African professional groups such as the Africa Radiography Forum, Radiation Therapists in Africa among others.

 

Caesar is part of the PACORI 2025 Stakeholders Committee and, a member of both the Scientific and the Logistics & Publicity Committees.

Dr. Nidhi Leekha
Committee member

Dr. Nidhi Leekha is an Assistant Professor and Consultant Radiologist at Aga Khan University Hospital, Kenya. She is current Chairperson of the Kenya Society of Ultrasound in Medicine & Biology (KESUMB), Vice President of the Mediterranean & African Society for Ultrasound (MASU), and Director of the Centre of Education for the World Federation for Ultrasound in Medicine and Biology (WFUMB) in Nairobi. She also serves on the WFUMB Education and Congress Committees, contributing to global strategies on training, scientific programming, and capacity building in ultrasound.

 

Her work focuses on advancing maternal–fetal health through innovation, education, and equitable access to imaging. She has led national initiatives including co-developing Kenya’s first obstetric Point-of-Care Ultrasound (POCUS) guidelines and curriculum, and contributes to research initiatives that explore the integration of digital health and AI-enabled ultrasound to strengthen healthcare delivery. Passionate about building capacity, she collaborates with global partners to reduce preventable maternal and neonatal deaths and to ensure equitable access to life-saving diagnostic technologies.

Dr. Beatrice Mugi

Dr. Beatrice Mugi is a Consultant Radiologist now in private practice after having served for more than 25 years in Diagnostic Imaging at the Kenyatta National Hospital where she was also involved in the mentorship of the radiology residents. Her main interests are in breast and body imaging.
She has had extensive involvement in health system strengthening being a technical committee member for Pillar II Diagnostics of the National Caner Control Strategy and the National TB and Leprosy Program where she was a key member during the first national TB Prevalence Survey and in the planning and implementation of AI enabled portable digital chest radiography systems.
Has been involved in the development and review of the National Cancer Treatment Guidelines, review of the National Cancer Control Strategy 2023-2028 and development of e-learning tools for healthcare workers.
She has been a long-term member of the governing council and a past president of the Kenya Association of Radiologists (KAR).

Dr. Catherine N. Nyongesa

Dr. Catherine N. Nyongesa, MBChB, MMed (Rad Onc), MBA (Candidate)

Dr. Catherine Nyongesa is a leading Clinical and Radiation Oncologist with over 20 years of experience in cancer care, research, and health leadership. She is the Director of Medical Services at Kenyatta National Hospital and the founding director of Texas Cancer Centre, Nairobi.

She holds an MMed in Radiation Oncology from the University of the Witwatersrand, South Africa, and is a Fellow of the College of Radiation Oncologists SA. She is currently pursuing an MBA at the University of Cumbria (UK).

Dr. Nyongesa is the President of the African Radiation Oncology Group (AFROG) and the Clinical and Radiation Oncologists Society of Kenya (CROSK). She is also a member of ASCO, ESMO, ESTRO, ICARO, and IGCS, and has led international collaborations with the IAEA and the American Cancer Society.

Mr. Sidney N. Njau
Chair, Finance and Resource Mobilization PACORI, & Honorary Treasurer The Society of Radiography in Kenya (SORK)

Mr. Sidney N. Njau brings his proven experience in governance, strategic partnerships, financial stewardship, business/customer intelligence, Teamwork, and events strategy to ensure the success of PACORI Congress 2025.

 

He is a multifaceted professional, Senior Medical Radiographer, Healthcare Leader whose career spans clinical radiography, pharmaceutical diagnostics, business leadership, professional association governance, mentorship, and community development.

 

His career began 2007 at The Nairobi Hospital, where he rose to Senior Medical Radiographer. He later transitioned into the healthcare industry 2018 with Surgipharm Ltd-GE Healthcare Life Sciences-IQVIA East Africa  advancing access to pharmaceutical diagnostics and radiopharmaceuticals while strengthening strategic healthcare partnerships. He is also currently a student at Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT), furthering his knowledge in healthcare leadership and management.

 

Sidney is a passionate mentor who has shaped the next generation of radiographers and healthcare professionals, instilling both clinical and entrepreneurial skills. Within SORK, he has championed the Radiography Act (2022), transparency in governance, and initiatives to empower radiographers economically.

 

   Beyond healthcare, he is also a Theologian, Agripreneur, Events strategist, and Community leader, integrating ethics, sustainability, and innovation into leadership. He continues to contribute to healthcare advancement, professional growth, and community transformation in Kenya and beyond its borders .
